"Rizzoli & Isles" Tonight at 10 on TNT. A drama that zeros in on two disparate gal-pal crimefighters from Boston---assertive detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) and steady medical examiner Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander). First up: the grim slaying of a wealthy couple appears to be the handiwork of a copycat killer.
"Turmoil & Triumph: The George Schultz Years" Tonight at 10 on PBS. The contributions of former secretary of state George Shultz are recalled in this three-episode doc, which opens with a recap of his life up until being tapped by Ronald Reagan to become secretary of state in 1982 and the initial challenges he faced. "If the president asks you to do something, and you feel you are reasonably competent to do it, then I feel as though you have a duty to serve," he explains. Among the challenges: increasing Cold War tensions and the Israel-PLO conflict in Lebanon.
"The Incredible Human Journey" Tonight at 11 on Travel. Anthropologist Alice Roberts begins her exploration of how early humans left Africa to colonize the world. In the series opener, she visits a site in Ethiopia where the earliest known anatomically modern humans lived. Later, she explores different routes their descendants could have taken to leave the continent.
